U.S. Mobile Kitchens Supports Major International Car Racing Event

The Race Event

In May, U.S. Mobile Kitchens was awarded a major contract to provide a temporary kitchen solution for a large, international multi-day auto race event in Miami, Fla., with approximately 270,000 attendees and an estimated 70 million viewers for its around-the-world broadcast.

This race event included 10 international teams with 20 drivers, 20 cars, and approximately 750 managers, engineers, strategists, and mechanics who supported the drivers and race cars.

The race governing organization and the tire supplier also had attendees along with thousands of workers who set up, tore down, and managed this very complex, multi-day event.
Race events of this caliber are extremely competitive and require substantial financial and human resources.

For example, race managers and strategists spend long hours analyzing data to determine race strategy. While mechanics work around the clock to ensure race cars are running flawlessly and to repair mechanical failures and any damage from practice and qualifying runs.

All this is pulled together by race organizers who must address complex logistical challenges, from preparing the track and paddocks to implementing the highest quality standards in the stands and vendor areas, to fulfilling media’s wide-ranging needs over this intense three-day race event.

The Challenge of Fueling the Humans

Considering the competitive demands on the race teams and support personnel, it was critical they had everything necessary to stay focused on their core tasks.

Easy access to freshly prepared meals without leaving their trackside offices and paddock areas was essential for all 10 teams, the race governing organization, and the tire supplier.

To deliver each team’s customized menu at all hours, caterers demanded high-quality cooking equipment, efficient work areas, and comfortable prep environment.

So, race organizers needed a mobile kitchen vendor with ample equipment and personnel to guarantee no equipment would fail and no deadlines would be missed.

The U.S. Mobile Kitchen Solution

U.S. Mobile Kitchen was selected by the race organizer because of its ability to supply high-quality equipment and its commitment to onsite project management throughout the three-day event—including support pre- and post-event.

U.S. Mobile Kitchen’s solution delivered a combination of 28-foot and 48-foot fully-equipped mobile kitchens that allowed catering staffs to support a wide range of meal preparation and food service needs.

U.S. Mobile Kitchens sent a team to work closely and seamlessly with the race organizer to have the kitchens in place and operational before the race teams arrived.

The Finish Line

The event was a success and the U.S. Mobile Kitchen solution allowed the catering companies to keep the race team and support staff fully fed without interruptions or issues.

U.S. Mobile Kitchen was awarded a contract for a future major U.S. race event and will provide its tailored and total solutions for years to come.
